I’m 65, disabled and not Catholic. I just moved into a senior center which is run by nuns. This is a wonderful place and I’m most grateful to be here after being robbed of everything I own by my children. One of the residents is running to the head nun and reporting I’m doing wrongs continually. I am not doing wrong. She has made others miserable with her controlling and abusive behavior and is hated. The head nun listens to her and immediately calls me and royally chews me out over petty and insignificant things. I’ve been sick all weekend because my blood pressure is way up and my diabetes has gone off the chart. This due to emotional stress. I’ve been here since the 22nd of May and I’ve been chewed out 7 times. Mostly because I’ve been weeding the extensive gardens. Others, including the groundsmen are happy I’m helping. I’m in hog heaven because I haven’t been able to garden for over 5 years. I’m not Catholic and I refuse to submit to what I consider Catholic tyrany. This is HUD housing and I am considering making a harassment complaint to HUD but only want to do that as a last resort. I’m a very independent thinker and I hate being controlled. I would never have been in this spot if it weren’t for my children taking advantage of my incapacity. I won’t put up with this harassment but I want to handle it very carefully and appropriately. Suggestions?
I don’t know if the nun is so hated but the little troublemaker resident who wants to control others is the one who tattles to the nun and she is hated. Her IQ is fairly low, but her sneakiness is very high.
I’m probably a "dudette"!
This is independent senior living. I am slowly losing the use of my right arm. I am only 65 and there is still a bit of tread left. What I am doing is much appreciated by other residents and the groundsmen who have given me a key to the sprinklers and access to the garden shed. Lastly, my mind is still honed and sharp and my post graduate legal training is still helping me. I am suing my own children for repleven with out an attorney. The public attornies are coaching me how to use the law library. I am easy to get along with, very tolerant and kind and generous. But I am also the last person you ever want to piss off. You don’t want to pick a fight with me. I usually win, if I don’t, it is at the least a draw.
With so much mis-information about who pays what tax floating around I did my own calculations using the IRS web site. (links below)
Bush’s “BIG TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH” is what I keep hearing from Senator Obama.
Here’s what I found:
In 1990, tax on a single man or woman making ,000 per year was 79
In 2003, tax on a single man or woman making ,000 per year was 16
Comparing 2000 tax rates (Under Clinton) to 2003 tax rates (under Bush with his tax breaks) married couples who filed jointly and earned:
,000 saved 4% under Bush’s tax rates
,000 saved 4% under Bush’s tax rates
5,000 saved 4% under Bush’s tax rates
Now, lets see if the wealthy are really reaping major benifit from Bush’s tax cuts. Let’s use a married couple filing jointly and earning an income of say, ,000,000 for the given year (since that’s the number Obama supporters like to use to mischaracterize John McCain’s statement about wealth.)
In 2000, this couple’s tax would have been ,950,668
In 2003, this couple’s tax would have been ,725,207
A savings of 4% under the Bush tax cuts.
Hey, wait a minute! That’s the same savings everyone else gets. What could Obama possibly be talking about?
Our government has always offered tax incentives to help promote things that need to be done and can be best done by private money.
A typical example is HUD housing for the extremely poor. If your tax liability is 1.7 million, and you spend 1 million of that money to build a 10 million dollar housing project for the poor under HUD, you can take that money off your taxes in the form of a tax credit. You have to come up with or finance the other 9 million yourself. It’s more complicated than this obviously with several hoops to jump through, but:
Your 1 million just built housing for the people that need it most. You did not get to spend that money trading wives, diamonds and cadillacs. In addition, you paid 700,000 in income tax.
Obama, in order to sell the lie to the American People, only looks at your gross income and compares it to the tax you paid, forgetting the 10 million dollar housing project you paid for to help the poor. Obama is a lawyer. Technically, he isn’t lying, but is he telling us the truth? Giving us correct information so we can make informed decisions? NO, but McCain is.
Don’t take my word for it. Do your own math. Here are the official tax tables from the IRS for 1990 (Bush senior), 2000 (Clinton) and 2003 (Bush)
1990: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040–1990.pdf (scroll down for tables)
2000: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040tt–2000.pdf
2003: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040tt–2003.pdf (includes cuts)
If you wish Obama would just stop lying about the Bush Tax Cuts, please give me a star and spread the word.

Thanks for the copy and paste answer. I hope you won't be offended if I do my own research and draw my own conclusions, rather than paste "the truth" from Obama's web site.
would you look for a mate, move in with a male, move in with a female, move in with family, find another person and the both of you look for an apartment together, move into someone's place or have them move into yours, move into a seniors home, look for HUD housing, or other alternative? Which would your best choice be and why.
I want to move from st pete florida to Naperville il because my family is there. I have no money. I am waiting for HUD housing for handicapped seniors they will call me within 6 months and I have 30 days to take the apartment. Any one know of a program to help me get my things there.
