I am considering senior care business in California, and but I am not sure how to start it. The concept is that I buy high-end single family house to rent it out to seniors only to use it as a senior housing facility. Then they can hire their own caregiver or nurse. It is just like assisted living facility. The difference is that I do not hire people to provide care service, but the renters have to hire that on their own. In this case, do I have to get permit or special license from state? Do I have to call HUD to inspect the house to make sure it qualifies to be a senior housing? Or it is just simply like the normal rental business? Pls advise. Thanks!

I am thinking about open a senior care group home using my own home, but I do not know how likely people would like to come comparing to big assisted living facility. Actually I can offer much better detailed and more private services like one on one certified nurse aid and shared registered nurse care plus shared chef. Only 5-7 seniors in one M house. Each client will have seperate bedroom and will have 24 hours care just like day time service. The monthly fee may be around 000 per person, but it will include everything such as individualized food, utility, room, daily housekeeping service, personal and health care services and companionship 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, plus any time transportation. The environment is also very clean, neat and ultra luxury. How many people would like to choose my service comparing to the traditional assisted care facility?

So I have a great aunt who lived in a retirement community in South Texas. She was at least 10 years older then anybody else there and decided that maybe it was time for a little bit of help. She decided to move back to Illinois closer to the family to something similar to an assisted living facility. They cook her meals, do her laundry, and things like that even though she is still totally capable. As it turns out though, those things that occupied her time now no longer do, she is bored, and wants to go back to Texas. At 90 years old she has fallen a few times but as I mentioned is fully capable (no broken bones, no mental disease, none of it – still drives even).

We’re trying to locate a place for her other then her own home that’s a little less in to what she’s doing now. Is there any type of place where there’s somebody nearby to check on you and they’d help you with those things if you wanted, but if you dont they’d stay out of your hair. She’s just not at the point she needs full blown assisted living, but independent living isn’t quite either. Is there anything in between? Help! Please!

We are conducting research for a potential new independent/assisted living facility for seniors and would like to know what amenities and services residents of this type of facility would like. Seniors only please!
