Like what would you want to see in a retirement community (an age-restricted development for seniors 55 or older)? What do you think would be some good features? Community-wise and in the houses.
First of all let me state that I am not against our government, but it is broken. I am just a citizen so what do I know?
I know there are far too many of our people barely surviving, not living the life that our leaders think we are? They don’t live on the paultry salaries that many people here do.
Have you ever seen one of them in line at the unemployment office or any other that is for people needing help even temporarily? No & you won’t either, they use our hard earned money to do with as they please living high & mighty. They should be paid, but they should do more to earn it.
Often the media shows a session of congress or other & some of the members are sleeping or otherwise diverting their attention from the matter at hand? How much information must they be missing that otherwise might have given them the whole point? How can they possibly vote intelligently and in best interest of the people they are representing if they aren’t even paying attention???
We pay them to sleep & otherwise goof off on the job.
Hey I don’t know about you, but if I did that more than once, my butt would be fired.
If the banks are in financial turmoil, maybe the government should help its people who are struggling & getting nowhere with their finances & day to day living, to get back on their feet.
I’m not talking about trips to foreign countries, buying yachts, limos, mansions, deciding on which ritzy function to go to & smoozing with top leaders & those of influence. I mean real people struggling for the basic needs to live not just survive.
I wonder if any of our “leaders” in any major official capacity, who are suppose to be working for “the people” of the United States, have thought that if they helped people who are working hard, sacrificing, possibly their health, their dignity, quality of life with & for their families by not having enough time or money to spend that more money would circulate? If prices on everyday necessities, health care etc. and especially taxes on everything were not inflated on a whim,”the people” of this country might have enough left over to put in the banks?
Don’t ya think with all of our citizens that would slowly build the banks back up?
By raising the prices of everything & wages staying the same for many jobs out here any one with half a brain cell working could figure out that there is NO MONEY left over & on that we certainly can’t borrow any from the banks. Even if someone had barely enough to qualify to borrow, it would take them too many years of their lives to pay at the high intrest & finance rates . I am not just talking about the banks here either, credit card companies are just as bad or worse. Lower those rediculously high finance charges & interest rates to match what people can realistically pay back.
When will our decision makers see that tax payers are paying their salaries & are going to the poor house very rapidly? Do they truly care how the rest of us live? How can they they don’t know what it is like to have a regular paying job.
We don’t get to decide what millions of dollars we should get automatically after retirement or vote ourselves a tremendous raise as the mood strikes And those raises & other monetary figures they pocket are what help ours remain empty.
I think that every one of those people should have to live for at least a couple of years on the salaries that most of our low & middle income families or even individuals, live on if you can call it living. Those people who are so used to that posh lifestyle, who among them would be able to handle it?
Another reason our country is on financial skids is because everytime another country has a disaster, or some other devistation, or needs medical provisions or whatever, guess who is first on scene? USA. Taxpayer money is going to help someone else not us.
Why, are they so free with this help when we have so many of our own people on the streets many of which would work for a decent livable wage, but I forget one has to have some experience in a particular job before we can be deemed fit to work (how does one get that experience if nobody will hire & train them?
Why should our senior citizens, who by the way, if it were not for them there would be no us, having to make the decision to buy food or medicine? Don’t they deserve to live out their lives with more dignity & comfort? Same for our vetereans who have fought for this country, even if not directly in war? They have still sacrificed many things to proudly serve. Why, when they retire from the military do they have to struggle again in their own country to get decent benefits or any at all? Shouldn’t they be treated better or at least as well as the members of our government who sit or have sat on their behinds in meetings, sometimes often forgetting what the meeting is really about & making decisions on issues they may have no firsthand experience at, all the while having gourmet meals, always having someplace to sleep w
I have elderly in-laws living in the philippines and I would like to provide them with a home care situation that will provide them with a safe and secure invironment to live in and also have meals provided. We currently cannot send them money or anything of value because their grandchildren and even one of their children will steal it. I am financially capable of providing for them

I have owned my mothers house for about 8 years now and since my divorce cant really afford the upkeep ,,, Im thinking about moving to the retirement community and renting this house to my sister. Any thoughts on this? Any comments or suggestions appreciated. I have been depressed since I moved into this house last Oct. I need a new start.Maybe this could be it?

Well, since she is getting older and her hudsband had passed away, she wants to sell her house and move into a one room home in a apartment building. But, me and my family think that she should move into Brooksby Village. She loves Walmart and she is abl;e to get transportation over to Walmart which is next door. From: LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
I am writing in order to seek some assistance and information regarding my legal rights as an AMERICAN CITIZEN. I live in Los Angeles, California, and I receive social security. I rent a part of a house where I currently reside. My landlady owns and lives in the main part of the house, and I have lived at this residence since October, 1999.
When I was approved to move in to the current unit I rent, the owner did NOT require or present me with a rental agreement, and collecting the rent was verbalized as to it having to be paid on the 1st of each month, and nothing was ever written or noted on paper as a rental contract perse. Since I have lived here, I have observed that the owners have rented to illegal aliens and this has continued for most of the time I have lived at this address. It is also noted that in the past and resent date, the landlord continues to house illegal aliens. Recently, I approached my landlord about having the family of 3, (which are NOT related to her) and my displeasure about having them living rent free with her for the last 3 years. The people in question receive pay of over ,500 per month, and one of the persons is currently involved in a case where he is receiving therapy, as he has and is still possibly collecting disability monies due from a slip and fall he encountered with a previous employer.
I have seen this person who lives rent free with my landlady perform and do labor work inside her residence like painting, moving heavy furniture, removing cabinetry, sanding the cabinets, reinstalling the kitchen cabinets, shampooing the rugs, washing cars, and all around laborious work for my landlady and all of the work he has performed while allegedly disabled from a fall has received monies from my landlady/owner in the form of cash so he would avoid and not encounter fraudulent problems that could arise with the Workers Comp/Disability/Authorities. It is my opinion that these people live very nicely and comfortably by receiving a salary each month, and living rent free. However, my rent continues to be raised each year, and these people live free! I am an AMERICAN citizen, and I would like to know what my rights are as a citizen where this is concerned. Why should illegal aliens live rent free and who are nothing more than opportunist who seek the ability to take advantage of a senior citizen and live rent free! I have paid my rent and have since the last 10 years that I have lived here and the last 5 years on a low fixed income from Social Security Disability.
The landlord is very aware that she is breaking laws concerning the housing of illegal aliens, and paying them cash, avoiding taxes and not reporting income she has received from renting to illegal persons, and currently allowing persons who are NOT related to her, and who ARE illegal aliens that live with her rent FREE! This is very disturbing to me to say the least as I barely get by with the monies I receive each month, and here these illegal aliens live rent free! How is that for the good old USA of AMERICA?! Do I have the right to sue my landlady for monetary damages for her showing preferential and favoritism to illegal aliens who are NOT related to her? I NEED HELP from a professional, so would someone please direct me as to where I can get answers and please let me know what options (if any) I may have as a renter and as an AMERICAN citizen.
This is total INJUSTICE!
Thank you for your time and assistance.
My father, who is 86 years old is living with my sister. She is having to quit her job as a nurse to stay home and care for him. He requires a moderate level of care such as meal preparing, help with walking, getting in and out of bath, etc. My question is this. If my father should pay my sister a monthly wage for her services, would he be able to deduct this expense from his income taxes?
Some desert communities reach 120 degrees in the summer sun & many people living on a fixed income cannot afford the energy bills to cool their homes/apartments.
Central California has set up cooling centers when the temp hits 105 degrees. It's a place where seniors can stay in an air conditioned room & avoid heat stroke….for free.
Does your town have them & what do you think about this idea?
I am looking for input about activity ideas that senior citizens like to do. If you moved into an senior apartment community what types of activities would attract you to move there? Also, what is the latest craze when it comes to games/entertainment for seniors?
Hi. I feel really lonely right now. It's almost the end of spring break and I have done nothing but stay in my house while everybody else is out of state or at their friends house. I am 13 and in the 7th grade. I have one really close friend that I talk to a lot that I met last year. And we live very close so our friendship is very strong. We hang out outside of school usually at least once a week. But that is just about the only friend I have. I used to have a lot of other friends but we got in a stupid fight. Things are okay now between those people but I don't think we are friends again. But I do still talk to those people whom I got into a big fight with. Not a fist fight. At lunch, there are 4 people I sit with. Amanda, Christina, Raquel, and Mckayla. I'm friends with them but like only in school. School is the only time that I talk to them. We have never hung out outside of school. And I only live with my dad and we are very low income. So I don't have birthday parties or anything. And my dad is also very strict about sleep overs and stuff. Probably because he is a senior citizen. (no joke there) And I have a Myspace account and on there I have 151 friends. Some of those 151 people are musicians but most of them of kids from school. I'm not really that close to anybody but my one best friend. So how do I make more friends? Friends that I can hang around with outside of school.
I have done hopice care for 5yrs. My co-worker and i have built up a very good repore with hospitals, doctors, and hospice, we are getting tons of calls but can't fill them all,a doctor told us to get a businss license so we can hire more cna's but we don't really know where to start ! what we provide is shift work and 24hr care. we take care of making sure all meds are given, lite house keeping, meals are prepared,we call and talk to doctors if clients need med changes.we are with client till they pass.we take care of all personal needs from brushing teeth, showering, to giving roxanol in their final days.we've called insurance co. and argued for our clients, so when i say we do it all i'm not kidding.we like what you do and take our jobs very seriously but our work load is getting very heavy it's time to hire but we need to get our license or certificate before we open a office' everything has to be leagel and we have no idea where to start help us to help others
I am considering senior care business in California, and but I am not sure how to start it. The concept is that I buy high-end single family house to rent it out to seniors only to use it as a senior housing facility. Then they can hire their own caregiver or nurse. It is just like assisted living facility. The difference is that I do not hire people to provide care service, but the renters have to hire that on their own. In this case, do I have to get permit or special license from state? Do I have to call HUD to inspect the house to make sure it qualifies to be a senior housing? Or it is just simply like the normal rental business? Pls advise. Thanks!

experience:20 years and a recent letter of recommendation
full/part time
in home care includes grocery shopping, light house keeping and errands.
I adopted a rescue dog who has yet to meet a human stranger and makes everybody smile. I would like to see about registering him as a service dog to take him to retirement communities to enrich the day of some of the residents there. How would I go about this?
I live in Texas, if that helps answer this question.
Kristin, I did get confused but at least the other two answerers were mature enough not to point it out. Thanks.
I need to move house leaks and my kids want fix it
I'm on disability for over 10 years (0.monthly for this year) due to mental slowness that's effective stability in the work enviroment, but that's not the issue. (10 years ago) being awarded 0. monthly at that time, could not continue to live in California. With some back pay (at that time) was able to afford to relocate to the next state in rural Nevada and finding a detach small home for rent in a rental housing development, much less than a cheap apartment in California. For the most part I was able to live within my means both finacially, and health wise. It's easier in this type of dwelling to alot having pets (have 2 cats and 1 dog) that have also help in my mental health and my mh councler to back me up on that. Much advantages of living in a rural town, however not when it comes to specialty health care, having unreliabe people, poor (very lacking) transportation is an issue, but even so, the lack ammenties, especially as I get older, but years away from being a senior citizen for qualifing for those type of programs.
10 years ago did not see these issues, but needed to live within my means as I had stated.
My low income only qualifies me for the (SLMB) state program that my low income is not consider low enough, . month food stamps and Dr. visit co-pay. The last 5 years I continue to be on the monthly section 8 hud voucher program that pays for the partial rent, and only can be used anywhere in "rural" Nevada, not Washoe, Churchill, and Clark counties. Rural Nevada does not provide specialty needs as I stated.
With my mental health condition make it too difficult to handle big major town.
The need to relocate to a situation that would assess my needs may not be by choice, and if not in the very state I live but to a state that would, I could not afford the move, and the hud waiting period.
Does anyone know if there some kind of government grant, or ? that would help?
My MH counsler does not know of any help that would assess these needs, the local section 8 hud doesn't know, friends and family, are unable to help, and the local social services, food stamp office can't help.
I felt I've done my homework, and it seems to appear Missouri is one possible few states with programs that may assess my needs, if need be(?).
In asking my local hud office about continuing, they said that the other state must assume the vouchers and the that other state said the state (Nevada) that I currently live that they must assume it.
I hope someone out there in the yahoo answer community knows of some kind of help,
instead of "I don't know what to tell you". Thank you.
